Chinese director Wang Bing, who debuted with West Of The Tracks (2002) and presented a new paradigm in the documentary scene, such as Three Sisters (2012) and Dead Souls (2018), talks to emerging filmmakers and shares his experiences.

Producer Isabelle Glachant began her career in cinema with Shanghai Dreams (Wang Xiaoshuai, Cannes Jury Prize). She then collaborated with Mouly Surya on her Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts, but also working with established directors like Wang Xiaoshuai, Lou Ye, Lu Chuan, and new talents like Faozan Rizal and Lei Lei. Glachant founded international sales company Asian Shadows that represents Asian films like Wang Bing’s Three Sisters.

Born in 1967, Wang Bing studied photography and cinematography before beginning his career as an independent filmmaker in 1999. Discovered in 2003, his debut WEST OF TRACKS, an enormous documentary of more than 9 hours, has garnered great success internationally. In addition to his documentaries selected or awarded in film festivals, he is also active in video installation, fiction film and photography. As a major Chinese artist, he has been honored by retrospectives of his oeuvre in museums such as Center Pompidou in Paris.
