The session introduces the co-production funding scheme and location shooting support that are offered by Hong Kong, which facilitates international filmmakers to capitalise on the city’s diverse east-west culture, extensive film production resources and regional economic position in tapping the Asian and Mainland China markets.

Cindy CHAN (Head of Film Production, Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency)

Cindy Chan is the Head (Film Production) of Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency of the Government of the HKSAR. She has over 20 years of experience in TV and Film industries. She had been in marketing and publicity, on location production, pre and post production positions at Television Broadcasts Limited, Edko Films Limited, and Filmko Pictures (Hong Kong) Limited. The films that she had worked on including Skyfall, Inferno, Monster Hunt, Monster Hunt 2, Cold War 2, Finding Mr Right, Finding Mr Right 2, Table for Six, and A Guilty Conscience.

Chen On CHU (Executive Producer, October Pictures Limited)

Mr. Chen On Chu is a graduate of Hong Kong Polytechnic University with a B.A. in Graphic Design. He began his career participating in different media projects ranging from advertising and computer-generated imagery to feature film productions. In 2000, Mr. Chu co-founded OCTOBER PICTURES LIMITED and had the opportunities to produce the Hong Kong portion of Hollywood blockbusters such as BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT, TRANSFORMERS 4: AGE OF EXTINCTION, NOW YOU SEE ME 2, DOCTOR STRANGE, GHOST IN THE SHELL and also Korean movie hits such as MY WIFE IS A GANGSTER 3 and THE PROFESSIONALS, which have made OCTOBER PICTURES LIMITED a reputable name in the industry not only locally but also with international film studios. In 2014, Mr. Chu was one of the fifty alumni invited to participate in the exhibition "THE NEXT 50: Layers of Design Creativity from Hong Kong" to celebrate the opening of the Jockey Club Innovation Tower of Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s School of Design. "THE NEXT 50" was an exhibition enlisted the alumni community, experts, and young talents to start and sustain a blueprint for the next 50 years and aimed to be a collaborative effort revisited and imagined by seasoned creators and future cross-disciplinary innovators. Mr. Chu has served as a member of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council Entertainment Industry Advisory Committee from 2011 to 2015 and was a nonofficial member of the Hong Kong Film Development Council from April 2015 to March 2019. At present, Mr. Chu serves on the Panel of Examiners to assist the Fund Vetting Committee of the Hong Kong Film Development Council in evaluating applications for film producing financing and film production grant under the Film Development Fund. In 2019, Mr. Chu was granted the Outstanding PolyU Alumni Award.
