This forum, celebrating the Busan Film Commission's 25th anniversary, explores key issues at the intersection of the Korean film industry and AI. The panel features Saltlux, the AI company behind Saltlux Ventures which co-created the Film and Video Fund with the Busan Film Commission; XON Studio, a virtual production company utilizing generative AI for efficient location scouting; and CJ ENM's legal team, addressing AI-related legal challenges in the content industry. Discussions will cover potential AI investments in content, the future of AI-driven digital location services, and international AI dispute cases, aiming to explore ways for generative AI and content to coexist beneficially in the industry.

KIM Seonghoon (Digital Contents Division Director, Cine21)

Since 2008, Kim Seonghoon has worked as a reporter and team leader at Cine21, a leading weekly film magazine, and in 2022, he was appointed Director of the Digital Contents Division. He oversees the production of digital content, including branded media, Masters Talk, and investigative web reports. As a reporter, he focused on film industry trends and policy during Korea's cinematic boom.
Kim now explores innovative ways to expand film-related content across platforms. Before joining Cine21, he was an assistant director on films like Boundary (2006) and Love (2007). He also co-authored 21st Century Korean Film and received the 2022 Democracy Press Practice Award for his investigative work.

LEE Kyungil (CEO, Saltlux)

Lee Kyungil, CEO of Saltlux, brings over 30 years of expertise in artificial intelligence and data. He is a key figure in Korea’s AI industry, serving on the Presidential Committee on the 4th Industrial Revolution and as a special professor at Hanyang University. He also holds leadership roles as Vice Chairman of the Korea Software Industry Association and Chairman of the Industrial AI Standardization Forum under the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards, contributing to both research and industry advancement. Under his leadership, Saltlux recently implemented its language model, "Lucia," to create a safety ChatGPT system for the Seoul Metro, marking a significant expansion into the private sector. In addition to leading Saltlux, Lee serves as CEO of its subsidiaries FluNet and Goover, Inc. in Silicon Valley, aiming to develop an AI service used by 100 million people daily by 2026.

CHANG Wonick (CEO, XON Studios)

Chang Wonick is the CEO of XON Studio, Korea's first virtual production studio. With 25 years of experience, he began his career as a computer graphics artist in 1997 and later became a VFX producer. At Mofac Studio, he contributed to over 250 domestic and international projects, including Haeundae, A Werewolf Boy, Journey to the West: The Demons Strike Back, and Detective Dee: The Four Heavenly Kings.
Chang co-founded WYSIWYG Studios, where he served as Chief Operating Officer (COO), overseeing production and operations. In August 2020, he established Xon Studio, which has since completed over 200 projects spanning films, dramas, commercials, and OTT content. Xon Studio is now evolving into an AI-integrated studio by merging AI and XR technology.

HWANG Kyoungill (IP Law Division General Manager, CJ ENM)

Hwang Kyoungill is a leading expert in copyright law within the film and broadcasting industries. Since 2010, he has chaired the PP Copyright Practice Committee, and from 2012 to 2016, he led the Legal Team of the Film Music Copyright Countermeasure Committee. In 2016, he was appointed to the National Intellectual Property Commission’s Special Committee for IP Strategy Support for SMEs expanding overseas, and in 2017, he served as a copyright advisor to the Korean Film Council.
Since 2020, Hwang has chaired the Music Copyright Countermeasure Council within the OTT industry, addressing key copyright issues in the evolving media landscape.
