Supported by Docs by the Sea from Indonesia, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), J-Docs Hub from Japan, the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) / Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute (TFAI) / Taiwan Docs, and the Asian Network of Documentary (AND) Fund of the Busan International Film Festival from Korea, 16 projects will be pitched to industry professionals from around the world. The showcase aims to highlight notable Asian documentaries in production and foster international industry connections. Following the pitches, a Happy Hour will be held to offer participants the opportunity to network and exchange ideas.

Notably, the newly established IMPACT Asia Award and Newstapa Award provide funding and distribution support for projects selected from the showcase.

Documentary WIP Showcase Awards & Grants

  • IMPACT Asia Award: The IMPACT Asia Award grants USD 5,000 each to 3 selected projects of Documentary WIP Showcase.
  • Newstapa Award: Newstapa Foundation will provide one project from Documentary WIP Showcase with KRW 10 million and an opportunity for its short version of 60 minutes or less to be streamed on the website and YouTube channel of Newstapa Foundation.

Asian Network of Documentary (AND) Fund, Asian Cinema Fund

The Asian Network of Documentary (AND) Fund, a funding program of the Asian Cinema Fund at the Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM), provides production grants for Asian feature-length documentary projects aiming for theatrical release. In addition to financial support, AND Fund projects are introduced to domestic and international film industry professionals through Doc Square, ACFM’s documentary industry program, expanding opportunities for exchange.

J-Docs Hub is an international professional development platform for documentary makers. It provides the knowledge, experience, and networks needed to develop their work internationally. The platform offers training led by experts from Japan and abroad, partnerships with international festivals and markets, and support for documentary project development. It aims to connect Japanese projects with international industry opportunities, including partnerships with producers, broadcasters, distributors, and festivals, as well as co-production, financing, presentation, and distribution. J-Docs Hub is operated by the non-profit organization Tokyo Docs with support from the Japan Creator Support Fund.
