A film travels from the solitude of one filmmaker’s imagination to an ocean of strangers-entering their minds, stirring their imagination, widening their horizons and, perhaps, deepening their empathy. That journey is built through a web of relationships-with an idea, with characters on the page, with actors, producers and collaborators, and eventually with an audience. In this talk, Mostofa Sarwar Farooki shares his own journey through this web.

Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, described by Variety as “a key exemplar of the Bangladeshi new wave” and “a singular voice,” has transformed the visual language, content and treatment of Bangladeshi cinema. His films explore human relationships, identity, and the desire to transcend its boundaries through imagination. Television (2012) closed Busan International Film Festival and won numerous international awards. Three of his films represented Bangladesh at the Oscars.
