Using Netflix title case studies Brazil 70: The Third Star (2026) and The American Experiment (2026), James Rustad (Head of GenFX) shows how generative tools complement traditional VFX craft, fit into the pipeline and what they unlock creatively. The session explores how Eyeline aims to grow regional capability through collaboration with local filmmakers and shared learning.

James Rustad is the Global Head of GenFX at Eyeline. In his role he leads a team of Hybrid Generalists working to fuse the new opportunities of Generative AI with the best techniques of traditional VFX. With a career spanning major studio film and television productions including Harry Potter, X-Men and Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, he now focuses on where the industry is heading next: building AI focused workflows at Eyeline to define what’s achievable in modern filmmaking and production.
