The Cinematic Singularity: Creating Beyond Boundaries with AI Co-hosted by KOFIC

This forum addresses the new “era of creators” leading cinema's future, amidst the major transformation brought by the convergence of film and AI technology. It looks at how AI technology is redefining cinema's boundaries and giving rise to ‘AI-driven creators’. The forum aims for an in-depth exploration of this innovative turning point in film production: the ‘Cinematic Singularity’.
Leading experts from Midjourney, Kling, and Google – pioneers in cutting-edge generative AI tools and visual production – join AI film director as keynote speakers. AI specialist & screenwriter participate as moderator, sharing the potential for new aesthetics and storytelling through the creative collaboration between AI and humans.

Terry LAM (Dean, School of Film and Television, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts)

Dr. Terry Lam, Dean of the School of Film and Television at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, has over 25 years’ experience in film narrative, production design, and digital media. He has led research in immersive media and game technology, notably at PlayLab, Hong Kong Polytechnic University. After moving to Seoul in 2014, he specialized in immersive media design and has supervised VFX for over 10 Hong Kong action films. His screenwriting includes A Guilty Conscience, Hong Kong’s highest-grossing film. Dr. Lam’s research explores creative practice, action cinema, and immersive technology. He also contributes to curriculum and professional associations.

Ray CHAN (Head of AI GTM, North Asia, Google Cloud)

Ray leads the Artificial Intelligence business within the Go-To-Market organization for Google Cloud across North Asia. He brings more than 20 years of experience in Go-To-Market leadership roles, most recently serving as trusted leaders responsible for transforming their businesses in Mobile OEM, Automobile, ISV and DNB different verticals from Cloud to current AI era. AI for All, He works with customers to help them realize their ambitions of driving AI innovation at scale. Prior to Google, Ray served as director at AWS for more than 7 years and held numerous sales and GTM roles.

ZENG Yushen (Head of Operations, Kling AI)

Responsible for the global product operations, creator and user operations, content operations, growth operations, as well as brand and industry partnerships for Kuaishou's Kling AI. Previously held positions at L'OrĂŠal, Uber, and ByteDance, with nearly six years of specialized experience in AI creation tool products and community ecosystems. Brings extensive expertise in global brand building, user growth, and creator operations.

John Joonyoung CHUNG (Research Scientist, Midjourney)

John Joonyoung Chung is a research scientist at Midjourney. He completed his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan and his BS at Seoul National University. John interned at Microsoft Research, Naver AI Lab, and Adobe Research during his Ph.D. years, and was a full-time researcher at Kixlab KAIST before he started his Ph.D. John’s main research interests are AI-powered creativity support tools for storytelling and art-making, while his interests also span educational technologies, crowdsourcing, and natural language processing. He has received paper awards from ACM CSCW, CHI, and C&C.

YANG Eekjun (Director, Mateo AI Studio/AI Content Lab (MBC C&I))

Graduated from Dongguk University with a degree in Film and Digital Media and is currently a director at Mateo AI Studio and MBC C&I AI Content Lab. In 2024, directed the AI short films Mateo and Witness, which won multiple awards at major film festivals, including the Grand Prize at the Korea AI International Film Festival and the Best Creative AI Film Award (Grand Prize) at the Busan AI Film Festival. Also proved the commercial viability of AI films by selling screening rights to domestic OTT platforms. Currently producing Raphael, a feature-length AI film created entirely with generative AI technology, scheduled for theatrical release in Korea in early 2026.
